Auður Ómarsdóttir - Two men in a darkroom
Auður Ómarsdóttir (b.1988) is a multidisciplinary artist working most commonly in painting, sculpture, photography and drawing. Physicality and observance play a large role in her narrative and inspiration often begins with personal events or elements in her close environment, which she disguises in her visual language.
Her works examine the ordinary perceptions of her surroundings as her inner emotional life. With simplifying the inspirations and coding them into abstract forms or wannabe realism, Auður feels as if the autobiographical lyrics and marks get depersonalised or even universal when clashed with these abstractions.
After graduating from the Icelandic Art Academy in 2013 Auður has continually exhibited her work in Iceland, Europe and North America. Auður graduated in 2021 with MFA Fine art degree from The Art Academy KMD, University of Bergen.
